The tiny village of Sowerby lies on the outskirts of the historic market town of Thirsk, in the Vale of Mowbray, at the heart of Herriott Country.

With the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North York Moors National Park to the east, the bustling town of Thirsk is just half a mile away, boasting a quaint market place, splendid Georgian buildings, a Norman church and excellent pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre.

Visit the World of James Herriott Museum, dedicated to the life and works of the town’s own famous vet and author or explore the surrounding rolling countryside and Hambleton Hills, offering excellent walking opportunities.
